7 Things to Consider Before Joining a Network Marketing Company

Network marketing is one business idea that has been misinterpreted by many of the practitioners. Many prospective subscribers of the program have been fooled to think it is a get rich quick investment that will end their quest for financial freedom within a few week of signing up.

It is always a big task to know which company to team up with out of the multitudes parading themselves as network marketing companies. In the process quite a lot of people have gotten their hands burnt and suffered loss.

The negative experience of many in the network marketing business have made them resolved never to have anything doing with the scheme, and also to prevent their friends and loved ones from joining it.

I would say that network marketing is like every other marketing initiatives other than that it gives the subscribers the opportunity to determine their earnings and they can earn as much as they desire without any limitation or barrier on the part of the company they chose to work with.

Unlike traditional marketing jobs where you either earn salary or wages, network marketing afford the subscribers the opportunity of building their own team of network marketers in the same company and earn certain commission on individual team members.

In this article post I would like to show you 7 things to consider before joining a network marketing company.

The 7 things to consider before joining a network marketing company

1. Product
Network marketing is product oriented. There must be product created by the company you want to join. The quality and relevance of the product must also be considered. Product could be tangible (supplements, phones), intangible (vacation, travel) or digital (app, eBooks).

A network marketing company that reward people based on the number of prospects they registered is but a ponzi scheme and will crash as soon as it is saturated.
Ensure there is a product your company is promoting and that the reward comes from the proceeds of product sold by you or your team.

Beware not to join a company that encourages accumulation of product in order to be rewarded as this will lead to you accumulating products you do not need and can be frustrating.

2. Physical location
The fact that the world has become a global village with everything now living on the internet does not remove the need for a physical location of a company behind an idea.

The company must be dully registered with appropriate authorities, and there should be evidence of physical address or location where should things go wrong at any time, authorities can trace the persons behind the business.

It is advisable to join a company that allow participants free access to its offices and facilities for the purpose of building their business.

3. Compensation plan
In every business and job the question of what ‘is in it for me’ is always major in the hearts of would be subscribers of the program. The compensation plan should explain in details how the business will reward participants.

The reward system must be simple and clear, free of any complications and should easily be understood by the participants.

4. Internet presence

The company should have an online presence. The company websites should be user-friendly and require no technical skill to work through. Prospects and members should be able to access the sites from any remote location without any hassle.

Ensure that the company’s training and materials are easily available and accessible on the websites. The sites should also be an avenue to promote and close business transactions.

Make sure the company website is such that hold the accounts of individual participants, and allow access to individual virtual office from anywhere. With this provision individual account holder can monitor their performance and income without any bottleneck.

Network marketing is meant to be business without boarder because of the use of internet to connect people across the world.

Failure to have a seamless internet presence to promote the idea will lead to limitation on the part of the company and participants.

5. Customer service

Poor customer service is responsible for the failure of many network marketers in the industry. Like every other business, customer service is key to the survival of any company.

There should be trust and confidence that should things go wrong the issue can be amicably resolved. The company should be proactive to respond when there is delay in delivery, or product spoilage.

There should be guarantee that issues that has to do with the virtual account and or commission payment shall be resolve promptly without unnecessary delay.

6. Training and support

It is not enough to have a fantastic product without fantastic support for its promoters. There must be regular training organized by the company that cut across product, business and personal development to help participants develop good skills for their profession.

Training and supports should not be limited to offline alone it can also be online. Marketing materials could be made available for marketers to download from anywhere in the form of videos, audios, eBooks, fliers, or newsletters.

Regular email is another way the company can support its network marketers.

7. Mentorship

The general practice in the industry is to have majority of prospects signing into the business as first timers. You will need the experience of others to be successful in the network marketing.

No man is an island. The story and experience of those ahead in the journey goes a long way to enhance the success of those coming behind. Mentoring covers up the gaps that the company cannot fill.

The company will provide you high level training and customer support while your mentor will be available for role play and moral support.

Where the networker lives farther away from the company location in another city or country, there will be heavy reliance on mentoring to achieve success in network marketing.

I am a product of mentoring in network marketing as my company does not have an office in my base and country but only organize occasional training and workshops. I have to rely on mentoring to be successful in the industry.

Mentoring afforded me the opportunity to move fast in the industry within a short time. It does not take time for me to start organizing my own presentation and seminars and build my team.

The frustration would have been much for me since am a newbie to network marketing at the time of joining the business if not for the help I received from my leaders and mentors.
